Sit up !

Well, our little guy has had a bit of a cold, so he's been clingy and wanting attention. He loves being called stinky-pants and cutie-pie. Between cuddles and sweet-talking, we've been finding time to work with little Beck on sitting up. He is still pretty bent over when he sits, but he's giving sitting up his all. Part of Beck's difficulty is the size and weight of his head. Like father, like son. The elephant you see in the photograph is one of Beck's little buddies, too.

To those of you who actually read the text, you can leave us messages on this site by clicking on the little letter symbol right below this text. C'mon, we want to hear from you. Nancy, don't be shy.

Memorial Day Clamming

We got up this morning at 6:15 to go razor clam digging near the Peter Iredale shipwreck in Ft. Stevens State Park. Jen had a permit, and I carried the little guy for most of the morning, and we were able to get 15 razor clams in about an hour. It was Jen's first time clam digging, and she seemed to enjoy it. Beck sat in a baby-Bjorn for about an hour and a half, occasionally belting out a squeal or other happy noises. He enjoyed being outside, near the ocean, watching people and events, the waves, etc. Now, cleaning and cooking the clams. There's always a catch..........

Lazy Sunday in Bed

Beck has been getting close to sleeping through the night. Maybe a meal around 1:00, but other than that, he's been giving his mother a much needed break during the night. He woke up this morning very peaceful, playing with his hands, vocalizing (with his new-found loud voice), cooing and drooling. I worked down in the basement on a dresser for Beck's room, then finally had to be the bad man and wake Jen and Beck up around 10:00.

Johnny Jump-Up

Today's entry is dedicated to my brother, John. Beck is fast becoming a big fan of the Johnny Jump Up. Beck's limit in the chair is about 10 minutes, and he spends about 1/2 of his time staring up at the ceiling above him. The Jump-Up is a great time to get a big corny grin out of our little guy. We usually have a little red rug under him so that he can get enough traction. The terry-cloth fabric of his normal outfits is a bit slippery on the wooden floors.

First Swim in the Columbia River

About a week ago, we had an incredible day on the Oregon Coast. Temperatures in the low 80's, so we decided to cross the river to the Washington side and find a beach. We found a beach, and had the area all to ourselves. We laid in the rocks and enjoyed the sun, as well as giving Beck his first dip into the river. Beck didn't get past his ankles, and much like his food, he didn't seem to think much of swimming.

Macy and Beck

The cat, the boy, the couch and the mom. Our cat is surprisingly friendly towards the little guy. Really, just a neat photo, actually.

Beck's first supper

A few days ago we had our first "real food" meal. A mix of mother's milk and a bit of rice cereal. As you can see, he thought it was a real treat. He didn't shed tears, but we're not really sure that he loved it. It's just the beginning Beck, and someday you'll love Dairy Queen and Burger King just like Mom and Dad.

The first post

So, this is the first post, and an effort to see if I can't get this whole Blog thing figured out. Hopefully, it will be a way to share photos and events on a sometimes daily, often weekly basis. So, here we go, and hopefully everything will work.
